Southend Pier Museum was formed originally in 1985 by The Friends of Southend Pier Museum (The Southend Pier Museum Foundation) in the old workshops below the shore end station on the Pier.
Three years of hard work by volunteers, with Council support, were spent in converting the old workshops and the Museum was opened on 8th July 1989 – one hundred years to the day after the new iron pier was opened to pedestrians. In 2009, the Foundation merged with the Pier Museum Trust and formed The Southend Pier Museum Foundation Trust Ltd.
By becoming a member you will help secure the future of the pier and the Pier’s Museum. Members may like to help with the restoration of the old pier trains and with other work in the Pier’s Museum. They can also help with research into the history of the pier.
Members will receive newsletters during the year and advance details of members meetings. We aim to include in our meetings talks, films or presentations on or about Southend Pier or the town itself.
Regardless of any current admission charges, members are entitled to free admission to the Pier’s Museum on production of an up-to-date membership card. (Please note that membership cards are not transferable)
Annual Membership is £10 for adults - Junior Membership (5 to 15) is £5
